The Side Post
(Click on a photo for a larger image)

The Post is the mechanism for raising and lowering the flagpole.  It is attached with 3 stainless steel bolts and is pivoted up and down on one of the bolts. It also keeps the flagpole off the ground to avoid rot.

We use long leaf yellow pine which has been pressure treated.  It is built to match the flagpole it supports.

Post Drawing
A small deep hole is dug for the post.

We set our posts with stone dust.  We find this the best way to ensure a tight base with good drainage.  In unusual siting conditions we may set it into a concrete base, but in most sitings the stone dust is much better all around.

The post is kept upright and level as each shovel of stone dust is tamped by hand all around the post.

The post is a beautiful and integral part of our wood poles.

We can also make double side posts, or special tabernacles to match any flagpole siting.
